1957 - Buddy Holly and the Crickets recorded their hit song, “Maybe Baby.”

1969 - Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman at London’s Marylebone Registry Office.

1971 - The Allman Brothers Band began recording their classic double LP Live at the Fillmore East.

1974 – John Lennon and Harry Nilsson were ejected from Los Angeles’ Troubador Club after heckling Tom Smothers’ comedy act, during Lennon’s six month “lost weekend.”

1982 - U2’s album War hit No. 1.

1983 - Def Leppard entered the British album charts with Pyromania.

1996 – “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” singer Nancy Sinatra donated her trademark white go-go boots to the Beverly Hills Hard Rock Cafe in California.

1998 - Cathay Pacific Airways banned Oasis Liam Gallagher after a fracas on a flight from Hong Kong to Australia. Passengers and crews aboard the flight to Perth claimed the singer and members of his band shouted obscenities and smoked in the cabin.

2003 – With David Letterman taking some time off due to an illness, Elvis Costello sat in as host of The Late Show.

2006 - Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour’s solo album On An Island went to the top of the UK album charts.
